The Laasgeel Institute successfully organized a one-day training on civic education in Somaliland, addressing critical topics such as the country’s history, the case for international recognition, and the rights and responsibilities of its citizens.
The program also explored broader themes, including democratization, good governance, and the government’s role in promoting active citizenship, national unity, and accountable leadership.
The training brought together 30 young participants from universities in Burao and local civil society organizations. Its core aim was to raise awareness and deepen young people’s understanding of Somaliland’s historical journey, national aspirations, and the foundations of its statehood.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Maan-Maal Academy for their invaluable partnership in delivering this impactful training. Their collaboration was instrumental in facilitating a program that is not only timely and forward-thinking but also urgently needed in today’s Somaliland context.
Finally, the Laasgeel Institute remains firmly committed to shaping Somaliland’s future through sustained investment in youth capacity building, research, and strategic policy engagement.
